The Student Nurse Externship Program provides students with the opportunity to work in a healthcare setting under the guidance of a preceptor.
The program provides students with an opportunity to refine nursing skills and build confidence while working as a full time nurse

Orientation for the Student Nurse Externship Program will take place on May 27-30.
Please report at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27 to the Classroom Wing, 1st floor, Room 106 to process in and receive your ID badges. PLEASE DO NOT BE LATE.

| What should I bring to Orientation? |
Please bring the following to New Employee Orientation:
- Pen
- Identification to complete the I-9 form as required by the US Department of Justice. The two most common forms of ID area:
- Social Security Card
- Driver's License
- Blank Voided Check - for direct deposit authorization.
The following must be submitted on the first day of Orientation - May 27.
- 2008 Summer Student Nurse Externship Program Skills Checklist. Please print this document and have your school of nursing complete this form.
- Official registrar transcript (SEALED) through 2008 spring semester.
- Official registrar copy of letter of good standing through 2008 spring semester.
Parking:
New employees should park in the stadium parking lot (unless otherwise instructed by department).
Directions to Classroom Wing:
The Classroom Wing is between the School of Nursing and the Guyton Research Building.
The eight week program begins the Tuesday after Memorial Day and runs until the end of July. The SNE is precepted by a registered nurse with a minimum of one year’s clinical experience.
