Discover Nursing as a Career : Ambulatory Services
The Ambulatory Clinics consist of 14 clinic areas that accommodate more than 100,000 patient visits each year. Together, they serve 53 different teaching specialties and deliver care to a diverse population that ranges from infants to geriatrics.
In addition to their involvement with short-term ambulatory procedures, nurses working in the clinic setting use their skills of coordination, teaching and problem solving to assist patients with management of acute illness and long-term health issues.
The clinics are staffed Monday through Friday, and are closed weekends and official holidays. The ambulatory environment encourages patients and their families to form partnerships with the health care team for the development of treatment plans across the wellness-illness continuum.
