Become a UMHC Nurse : Perioperative Services
The Department of Perioperative Services is an exciting and challenging area of nursing that puts you in close contact with patients at a crucial and emotional juncture — during the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative surgical experience.
Approximately 16,000 surgical procedures are performed annually in our 16 main ORs and the five ORs in the Winfred L. Wiser Hospital for Women & Infants. In addition, two new floors in the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children recently added seven OR suites and support areas designed specifically for pediatric patients. In addition, our new Adult Hospital includes a Day Surgical Center with six suites.
As a Level I trauma center, we offer patients access to all surgical specialties, including transplant services. We are staffed 24/7, enabling us to provide our nursing staff with a variety of flexible shifts. Intensive training and individual orientation are provided to all new hires, and our progressive environment encourages professional growth and empowerment.
