Miracle Treat Day to benefit Batson

Dairy Queen Restaurants will host their annual Miracle Treat Day on Thursday, Aug. 13.

Proceeds from the sale of Blizzard treats that day will go to the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children. Participating Dairy Queens include those in Jackson, Clinton, Natchez, Hattiesburg, Meridian, Magee, Brookhaven, Flowood, Brandon and Ridgeland.

MiracleHome tickets still available

On Saturday, Aug. 15, one lucky person will receive the keys to the newly completed 2009 Batson Hospital MiracleHome located in the Providence subdivision in Madison. Six thousand tickets are still available at $100 each and will be sold until the giveaway, which is scheduled to be televised live at 6 p.m. on WJTV Newschannel 12.

Proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children. David Smith Butler, Inc. constructed the 1,870-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bathroom house, which has many "green" features, such as energy-efficient appliances, bamboo hardwood floors and recycled carpets.

Med/Surg Nursing Conference

The 2009 Medical/Surgical Regional Nursing Conference is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 10, in the UMMC Conference Center at the Jackson Medical Mall Thad Cochran Center.

The conference is designed to provide nurses, nurse practitioners and other interested health care professionals with knowledge to promote better health care to their patients. The format will include general sessions and concurrent tracks with clinical and current topics.

Wound care nursing conference

The 2009 Wound Care Nursing Conference is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11, in the UMMC Conference Center at the Jackson Medical Mall Thad Cochran Center.

The conference is designed to provide nurses, nurse practitioners, dietitians and other interested health care professionals with knowledge and clinical skills to care for patients with challenging wounds. The format will include a review of a variety of topics and an intensive didactic and hands-on session on negative pressure. The event will conclude with suggestions to incorporate evidence-based practice at the bedside.

Sigma Theta Tau - Founder's Day Social

The Theta Beta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International invites ALL current and former members to attend our Founder's Day Social on Monday, Sept. 21 at 5 p.m. in Nelson Student Union. There will be a brief meeting and light refresments will be served.
